Quick overview

The short version

  • Start with a manageable batch and identify each physical piece before photographing it.
  • Keep photos, measurements, testing notes and storage details connected to that item.
  • Review every draft; publish ready items while keeping unresolved pieces separate.

To batch-list on eBay, prepare a small group of items, give each one a code, keep its photos and notes together, review the drafts and record where every piece is stored. Batch the repeatable work while checking each item on its own merits.

Listalong Snap is our coming-soon app designed around photographing a batch, preparing AI drafts and reviewing listings before publishing to eBay. You can build the preparation habits now, even while you are using your current listing tools.

1. Choose a batch you can finish reviewing

Pick a handful of straightforward, ready-to-list pieces. Five or ten can be a useful first trial; choose fewer if an item needs detailed measurements, testing or research.

Set aside anything waiting for a repair, a missing accessory or a model check. Give it a clear “needs attention” place instead of allowing it to interrupt every other item in the batch.

For your first run, similar items can make the routine easier to learn. Once the process is reliable, a mixed batch might include clothing, a camera or a household item, each with its own inspection needs.

The goal is a group you can confidently finish. An impressive item count is less helpful when half the drafts still need detective work.

2. Assign the code before the photo session

Give each physical piece a unique stock code, such as US-0101. Keep its storage location in a separate field so the code stays the same if the piece moves.

Use a removable tag or suitable bag label without damaging the item. Record the code beside the short description before starting its photos.

Here is an imaginary batch record:

CodeItemInformation still neededLocation
US-0101Blue shirt, tagged US mediumFlat chest and lengthBIN-A
US-0102Black jeans, tagged W32Measured inseam and cuff photoBIN-B
US-0103Camera bodyModel label and test notesSHELF-1

Our small-space inventory guide explains how to connect the record to your physical storage.

3. Finish one item’s photos before starting the next

Use the same sequence each time: whole-item views, identifying labels, useful details and meaningful flaws. Check that the images are in focus before putting the item away.

Keep each photo group separate. If you import existing pictures, check which item they belong to and whether they still show its current condition. Do not assume the filename or the order in your camera roll is enough.

For a pair of similar shirts, check both size labels and both condition notes. The small mark on one cuff should not migrate to a completely innocent neighbor.

The photo-to-eBay guide includes a practical shot list and notes to capture alongside it.

4. Add notes before the item leaves your hands

Record measurements, tests, missing parts and faults while you can check them directly. Use short, factual notes rather than trying to write the final description at the same time.

For US clothing buyers, identify the tag’s sizing system when known and state measurement units clearly. For a device, say what you tested and what you did not test. Photos do not establish every working function or specification.

Snap’s planned flow lets photos and seller notes inform editable AI drafts. The app page previews generating the batch when you finish, or generating after each item while you keep photographing. Those are planned workflow options, not a reason to skip the inspection.

5. Review drafts in a consistent order

Open each item with its photo group and notes. Work through:

  1. Item identity and thumbnail.
  2. Title, category and item specifics.
  3. Condition, measurements, included parts and description.
  4. Your chosen price and relevant sold comparisons.
  5. Shipping, handling and returns settings.
  6. Stock code and storage location.

eBay’s item-specifics guidance explains how structured details help match items with searches. A description that looks right still needs those fields checked.

Use the AI draft review checklist for a closer look at unsupported claims and contradictions. Keep unresolved items separate from those you have finished reviewing.

6. Connect storage to the listing record

Before an item goes into a bin or onto a shelf, record the location. After publishing, keep the listing link with the same item code. That gives you a route from the order back to the physical piece.

The previewed Snap storage workflow adds a separate photo of a supported Listalong QR label after the item photos. It is designed to keep recognized label images out of the public photo set and save the box code in eBay’s SKU field. Do not assume that an arbitrary QR code has the same behavior; review the supported labels and final instructions at launch.

A box code identifies a location. If several pieces share that box, keep enough item identity in your own record to distinguish them when picking an order.

7. Publish the items that are ready, then check the result

Snap’s planned eBay workflow includes publishing an individual item or submitting all ready items together after review. A generated draft and a successfully published listing are different stages.

Check the publication result for each item, resolve any errors and open the finished listings. Confirm the photos, details and stock records match. Avoid creating another listing simply because you are unsure whether the first attempt worked.

If you later offer the stock on another marketplace, use a separate cross-listing process and keep availability connected. Listalong crosslisting and Listalong Snap do different jobs; a crosslisting subscription is not required for Snap’s planned eBay listing workflow. Depop integration for Snap is planned rather than available now.

Prepare the routine while Snap is in testing

Start with a small batch using your current tools. Note where you lost time or mixed up information, then improve that step before adding more stock.

Snap is currently in private iPhone testing in Australia, with Android on the way. A US release date has not been announced, and features may change before public release. See Listalong Snap and get launch updates.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

How many items should I put in an eBay listing batch?

Start with a number you can inspect, photograph and review comfortably in the time available. Five or ten straightforward pieces can be a useful trial. There is no universal batch size that suits every seller or category.

Will Listalong Snap publish a batch automatically?

The planned workflow lets you review and edit drafts before publishing individual items or submitting all ready items together to eBay. Do not assume an item is ready simply because a draft has been generated.

Will a Listalong QR storage-label photo appear in the public listing?

The previewed Snap storage flow is designed to exclude recognized, supported Listalong QR-label photos from the public listing images and record the box code in eBay’s SKU field. Check final label requirements and the listing preview when the app launches.
